Ugh

Pushed it today. Didn’t get a full 8 hours last night. Decided to spend 2 hours cutting and dragging trees, then rode 29 miles on the Emonda….20 of those miles will a rear tire that was losing air. All of this on 600 calories and maybe 50g of protein.

Wasn’t really hungry for dinner, but ate a bunch anyway. I’m going to sleep like the dead tonight. Curious how I feel in the morning.

Goodbye sweetie….

The world was a very different place in June, 2001.  I was 33, had a beautiful 6-year-old daughter, and a magnificent 110-pound Lab/Shepherd mix named Ajax.  My world turned around the two of them, so much so that I had a photograph of the two of them on my desk at work.  Had you asked me then, I would have sworn that I had no more room in my heart for either another child or another dog.  Read More

A new adventure….

What initially got me motivated to write this was to share some good news about my life, but then I looked at the calendar and realized what weekend it was…..And that turned what would have been a quick Facebook post into an Island dispatch.  Which is good, because I don’t visit the Island often enough, and I like it here. A year in….

Greetings Islanders!  A thousand pardons for the past 6 months of silence.  Work and school have dominated my time, and I just haven’t had the gumption to put my thoughts to words.  Not that topics haven’t come up.  There’s the silliness of the election (which I’ll keep to myself lest I piss off everyone).  There’s the tragic string of celebrity deaths culminating in the shocking loss of Prince.  Sadly I’m still a bit too shellshocked to write coherently about that loss.  And then there’s me.  Big changes over the last year, so I figured I’d talk about that. I’ve Ponied Up…..

That’s right kids, I’m in the big leagues now.  I forked over the $26 a year to lose the “WordPress” in the site’s URL.  I’m now the proud owner of baroqueweirdos.com.  This may or may not mean that I’ll update the site more frequently, but at least there’s less typing for y’all.

What is Love?

It’s funny how attached people become to inanimate objects.  But start talking trash about a man’s truck, motorcycle, guitar, or gun, and see how quickly he rises to its defense.  I’ve felt this same attachment to all those things….My 2002 Silverado that I foolishly traded in on something newer, my 2005 Night Train that’ll go to the grave with me, The ’77 Les Paul Custom that I can’t seem to part with, and my ancient Mossburg 500 that I bought for a song.   Read More

One week

I’m not old, but I am getting older.  While a big part of me is kicking and screaming about that, the other part recognizes that growing older is better than the alternative.  The sad reality is that even though I feel pretty good and I’m in decent shape, I don’t have my 30-year old body, much less my 40-year old one.   Read More

Hello there……no one.

I figured it was about time to start consolidating all my various stories, rants, and musings.  What you’ll find here – at least for the near future – are things I’ve put together for other websites.  Mostly ride reports from motorcycle trips and movie reviews.  Probably some political stuff just to stir the pot.

Anyway, enjoy!
